Dresser makeover

I've had this dresser since I was a little girl. It has a matching giant mirror, and is in surprisingly great shape consider its, ahem, age.

After we updated the master closet, we wanted to find somewhere for it to live, but it definitely needed an update.

We had some navy blue paint leftover from a previous project and loved it for this piece for Shannon to use in the master, and it turned out awesome.

It's just gorgeous with the original hardware too, don't you think?

Another home office

With both of us home, we needed a second work space for Mary to work from home full time. We've never found a great use for this little space off the master, so she commandeered it for her new work space, and it's been working out great. Except, now she wants a feature wall....

Master closet before and after

Ever since we did our second floor renovation, we've had big plans for the master closet, but like so many things, it got pushed to the back of the list because we 'made it work.'  I had my things in a dresser and makeshift hanging rods upstairs, and Shannon had his things in the tiny downstairs closets. But finally, just in time for my birthday, we did it. We pulled the trigger on all the things at the Container Store and build the master closet of our dreams. Well, my dreams. But Shannon fell. in love in the process. It's true, it's like legos for adults (TM Claire White).

Here's the before (brace yourselves):

No judgment. We lived like this for way too long. But it did the trick (kind of?).

Anyhoo, here's what we were working with. HUGE when it's emptied out, right? Turns out it's huge when it's organized correctly, too!

We used all elfa products from the Container Store, and it worked great. Shannon, being the genius that he is, was able to modify a couple pieces in the back right corner to make it truly custom and maximize the space, and we are THRILLED with the finished product. The dogs have already. moved in (NOT KIDDING).
